Focus on the Talent: Viaggio’s Star Clown and Costume Designer Cheryl Lindley
iL CiRCo's "Columbina" Cheryl Lindley's relationship with iL CiRCo started before the show was ever created.
"I have known Sam Trego for a long time and thanks to him my career dreams have become a reality."
Part of the original Viaggio cast, Cheryl's work with Imagination Entertainment spans nearly 20 years.
"As a student I wanted to combine my love for physicality with my love for art. I studied Theater Design and Technology and went from painting to dance, mime and eventually clowning. In Sam's company, I can realize all of my ideas and dreams."
Cheryl is the head costume designer for several shows as well as a performer. Imagination Entertainment made it possible to follow this career path in her hometown of San Diego where Cheryl and husband Rogelio Lopez, whom she met while she was in costume, founded the Sophia Isadora Academy of Circus Arts. Forty students annually learn every aspect of the trade, from aerial acrobatics to rigging.
Kids ages four and up, can realize their circus dreams by attending the popular summer camps.
Sam Trego: "Cheryl is San Diego's most successful clown and an integral part of iL CiRCo. Her work as a designer and performer is outstanding, but most of all we admire her passion for passing on her skills, knowledge and love of circus to the next generation."
